2 Spanish delicacies: El Colmado
Bristol foodies are well served when it comes to award-winning delicatessens and the latest addition to the scene is El Colmado.
Run by David Pavon, this small Gloucester Road shop is an Aladdin’s cave of specialist Spanish products you won’t find anywhere else in the city. It has become especially popular with Bristol’s growing community of Spanish students, who head here to stock up on hams, cheese, olives, chorizo, paella rice, Padron peppers and calçots (Catalan spring onions).
The shop even sells ham-carving knives and paella-making equipment and it’s also one of the few places where you can find the artisan blue cheese Cabrales, made in the Asturian mountains.
